About me
Hi! I’m Naemi Bohlken, an illustration, animation, and graphic design student from Germany, based in Groningen, NL. My passion lies in creating designs with purpose, where I combine personal interests with visual storytelling to push the boundaries of reality. My approach embraces both chaos and structure, where layering and distortion meet clean, balanced compositions. I’m drawn to the beauty of imperfections; sketched, organic elements that interact with thoughtful design.
I’m constantly inspired by the world around me, from the subtle distortion of my reflection in a window to the magic of golden hour transforming buildings. Everyday moments spark ideas, and I love observing these small interactions. Whether it‘s two strangers crossing paths or the shifting colours of a foggy street. Pop culture also fascinates me, and I enjoy playing with current trends, whether I’m aligning with them or consciously pushing against them.
My creative process starts with observation; collecting, sketching, and embracing the rawness of my first drafts. I like the power of experimentation and not overthinking things. By allowing myself to explore multiple versions of a concept, I can merge elements in unexpected and exciting ways.
Looking ahead, I aspire to use my design skills to support causes and topics that are close to my heart. Issues like sustainability, feminism, gender equality, and social justice are already finding their way into my work. I’m inspired by publications like fluter and Das Wetter, which use their platforms to address important social issues and spark dialogue about the future.
